DETROIT (WJBK) - A Detroit rapper was shot and killed while one month ago on the city's west side.
The killer is still on the loose and Rodney Yeargin's family continues to wait for justice.
"I feel my heart is not in the right place," said Shronda Yeargin, his mother. "There's a part of me that's gone, that cannot be repaired or replaced."
The pain Shronda Yeargin is feeling, speaks for itself. Her son, Rodney Yeargin who performed as the rapper Doughboy Roc, was shot and killed on Oct. 9. His body was found inside a white Hyundai at Stoepel and Westfield near Livernois.
The shooting happened at about 3:30 in the afternoon. Police say the bullets struck him in the ear and shoulder.
"I'm stuck right here, I'm stuck right at October 9th," Shronda said.
The Detroit rapper was loved by his family, described as a generous man to his relatives, his friends, and even perfect strangers. It shows in a video clip from a few years ago where he celebrating his son's birthday - who he named Rodney Yeargin Jr.
At this time Detroit police believe the motive may have been money.
"As of right now, it is probably going to be some money maybe owed to our victim or maybe he owed some money," said Officer Desiree Curry, Detroit police. "So right now, we're working that angle as a motive."
"Whoever did this, you had to have known him," said Carol Martin, Rodney's grandmother. "You picked him. You knew how naive he was, and you took advantage."
"It's been a month and we don't have any closure or justice," said Shronda.
Right now Detroit police are looking into every possible lead on this case however they still need more people who have any information to give them a call.
