Men trash Eastpointe store after credit card stack didn't work

- A temper tantrum was taken to another level inside an Eastpointe gas station caught on camera.

Police believe a couple men were trying to use stolen credit cards and when the clerk told them to leave, they lashed out.

"We can't tolerate that kind of rage, it's ridiculous." said Dep. Chief Eric Keiser.

Early Sunday morning a customer inside the Sunoco gas station on Gratiot and Stephens tells FOX 2 a man walked into the station yelling. Eastpointe police, say when he tried to buy some snacks and candy his credit card was rejected.

"When the credit cards were rejected a second male walked up with a stack of about 10 credit cards," Keiser said.

And when those stack of cards were also declined, the clerk told the two men to leave the store. He feared the credit cards had been stolen and quickly called police.

"At that point they had a temper tantrum in the store throwing things off the shelf, breaking an unknown number of wine bottles," Keiser said.

A customer recorded the incident on Facebook Live. The two men fled in a silver Chevrolet Impala with at least seven bottles of wine and leaving a disaster behind them.

"It would be helpful if someone knew these people they could call us," Keiser said. "We cannot tolerate this kind of behavior in our society."

While destructive duo only faces misdemeanor charges for retail fraud and disorderly conduct. If those stacks of credit cards prove to be stolen, they are in a much bigger mess than they left.

"If that were the case trying to use stolen credit cards and then having a temper tantrum because their felony attempt didn't work," Keiser said. "That doesn't make any sense to me and we have room in our jail for them."

Eastpointe police are reviewing video from inside and outside that gas station.
